Dear Dr. Coleman:

On Victory Sunday May 3, just three months from the day that we first presented the Capital Campaign to the congregation, our Nehemiah Stewardship Campaign Chair announced that the intensive phase of the campaign had resulted in gifts and pledges totaling more than $865,000 toward a goal of $800,000.

The response of the congregation (and persons beyond the congregation) has been most encouraging. We are confident that by the end of the calendar year the stewardship campaign should be at $1 million. The cost of building our new church facility is estimated at $1.5 million. We have already acquired the building site.

While First Cumberland Presbyterian of McKenzie has been deeply involved in planning and preparation for about two years, I am convinced that one of our best investments was in professional counsel. We are deeply indebted to you and your organization for your leadership, for keeping us on track, and for providing a program that involved so many of our congregation in meaningful and significant ways.

We will continue with the Follow-up Committee and with a strong emphasis upon stewardship and personal involvement in the program.

A construction and completion date has not yet been determined, but the first Sunday in the new century has been mentioned as a date for dedicating the new church - you will be among the first to get an invitation to share in that celebration.

Special thanks for your good work.

Sincerely,
Larry D. Dailey
Minister
